In High School, the girls create their own volleyball teams. The girls put together a roster of at least 12 players and find a volunteer parent coach on their own. The coach must be willing to attend every practice and game and complete the coaching requirements.

Teams will practice 1x/week and usually play 1x/weekend (10 game season + playoffs). Practices will start end of January/beginning of February. Regular season games run 3/3- 4/30. For teams that make it, playoffs are 5/4 - 5/20.

St. Mary’s CYO is committed to offering a great experience for ALL participants.  

Please see below for important features of our program:

·     We are proud that we do not cut children at any age.  We are the largest parish on Long Island in terms of number of travel teams that we enter.

·     We seek to find the right level of play for all players, appreciating that we have some boys who have a lot of experience and others who are beginners.  

·     We are coached by volunteer parents and are always looking for offers to help.

·     We use a draft process where there is no guarantee that boys will be on teams with their friends, the same team from last year, friendly carpools, teammates from other sports, etc. St. Mary’s CYO and the coaches do their best to consider all of the factors in roster construction.     

Team Construction: Long Island CYO has become stricter with mandating that we enter teams in certain divisions based on prior years performance.  Please see below for the feedback we received from CYO, appreciating that this is subject to change:

3rd/4th– balanced teams drafted by coaches following evaluations.  

5th– CYO mandates that we have one A team.  The A team will not include the “best” 10 players from the grade, rather a core group of strong players (4-6).  The remaining teams will be balanced in either the B or C division. 

6th– CYO mandates that we have two A teams.  Grade construction is TBD based on composition of and number of registrants.  

7th– CYO mandates that we have two A teams.  Grade construction is TBD based on composition of and number of registrants.  

8th– CYO not mandating teams.  Grade construction TBD based on composition of and number of registrants.

Evaluations:  Grades 3 and 4 will continue to have 1 hour evaluation sessions conducted by independent evaluators.  We are changing the evaluation process for grades 5-8, given the mandate from CYO.  The coaches for the grade and an independent evaluator will be at the evaluations.

Practices:  Grades 3-6 will continue to have one team practice per week. Grades 7 and 8 will not have team practices.  We will offer “open gym” time to grades 7 and 8 where at least one coach will need to be present for the boys to train and scrimmage together.  We have received feedback from the older grades that the boys have too many other commitments in middle school and attendance at practice suffers.  The "open gym" concept also allows friends to play together away from the official CYO games.  We will work with the coaches in these grades to find the optimal day/time slots.  

The season runs from November 17th until Jan 13th. For grades 5-8 there are playoffs for eligible teams that go until February 9th.

(Day and Times will vary for each team based on the coaches and gym availability). Each team will have 1 practice during the week and then games are usually on weekends (games are usually on Saturday or Sunday, but weekday games may possibly).

REGISTRATION for THE 2022-2023 ST MARYS CYO GIRLS GRADES 3-8 TRAVEL BASKETBALL SEASON IS OPEN!

Welcome to the 2022-2023 St Mary's CYO Basketball Season.

The information below is for Girls Travel Basketball for Grades 3-8 (as of September 2022) ONLY. 

Information for Boys Travel Basketball for Grades 3-8, Boys High School Travel Basketball, and St Mary's Grades K-3rd Basketball Clinics will be released in the next few weeks.

St Mary's CYO would love to accommodate everyone who wants to play for St Mary’s CYO, but gym space and scheduling is limited. Consequently, only children of St Mary’s Parishioners, or students enrolled in St Mary’s schools or children attending any school in Manhasset are eligible to participate.

THIS REGISTRATION IS FOR GIRLS ONLY.  

Boys Grades 3-8 Travel Basketball registration will open shortly.

Registration for High School Boys Travel Basketball and St Marys K-3rd grade clinics will open in November.

Evaluations for team placement will take place September 10th and 11th and times and locations will be sent out shortly. Teams for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade will be made as evenly as possible.  For 6th, 7th and 8th grade teams, players will be put on teams based upon their abilities, attitude and sportsmanship. These evaluations will be done by local independent coaches outside the program. 

The season runs from October 14th until Jan 8th. For grades 5-8 there are playoffs for eligible teams that go until February 11th.

Practices for each team will begin the week of September 19th. (Day and Times will vary for each team based on the coaches and gym availability).  Each team will have 1 practice during the week and then games are usually on weekends.

Uniforms will be provided for the girls, so please make sure to mark down your daughters correct size. The uniforms will be the same brand / style as last year.

The fee this year will be $295.00

REGISTRATION FOR GRADES 5 – 8 IS NOW OPEN!

We are happy to announce that after a year and a half St Mary’s Manhasset CYO GIRLS High School Travel Volleyball - is back.

Our distribution list is out of date and the registration window is short, so PLEASE let your friends and neighbors know about Volleyball registration.

We would love to accommodate everyone who wants to play for St Mary’s CYO, but gym space and scheduling is limited. Consequently, only children of St Mary’s Parishioners, students enrolled in St Mary’s schools, children living in Manhasset, and children attending school in Manhasset are eligible to participate.

HS players: DO NOT Register – you MUST email stmarysmanhassetcyo@gmail.com if you are interested in playing. HS registration will open December 15th.

The fee for each player will be $240.00 Registration will be CLOSED as of the evaluation dates with no exceptions. The registration fee includes the girls’ uniforms and knee pads.

Teams will practice 1x/week and usually play 1x/weekend (10 game season + playoffs).  Regular season runs 2/27 - 5/1.

The clinics will  be on  Saturday's  on the following dates:

December 4th, 11th & 18th , January 8th, 15th, 22nd & 29th, February 5th, 12th & 26th, March 5th & 12th (12 Sessions).

Clinics will be run by coaches from Hoops 101 and will be an hour long and will be focusing on teaching the kids  basketball skills and keeping them engaged so their love of the game grows. 

PLEASE NOTE - Clinics will be held in Manhasset School District Gyms so coaches and players will be required to follow COVID-19 Protocols currently in place in the District. This means that everyone will be required to wear masks at all times while in the gyms. 

 Pinnies will be provided for the players, so please make sure to mark down your child's correct size.

The fee this year will be $210

Boys CYO Travel High School Basketball Registration will open on Monday November 8th 2021 and close on Friday November 19th 2021.

We are happy to announce that after a year and a half St Mary’s Manhasset CYO is back. Since being shut-down because of COVID in March of 2020 we have not been able to provide a place for the kids to play here. After a lot of  work with the parish and CYO we are finally back and able to run a full program. We understand that everyone has been through a lot since we were able to get the kids out on the courts and we ask for your patience as we shake off the rust and also implement new protocols and rules so that we can run a successful  program. Remember, anything we are doing is for you and your child's safety. If we want to continue to run our program then we have to abide by the protocols. 

We know that it has been a while and that our email distribution list may be out of date, so please share the registration link with your friends and neighbors (especially those with younger children) who may be interested.

All evaluations will take place at St Mary's Elementary School in the gym in Weist Hall. Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled time. Check in will be upstairs, and we ask that everyone remain outside until the group in front of you has exited the gym. 

We understand that this is short notice and there may be conflicts. Please email us and let us know if there are any issues.
